Ian Banks new novel Transition is now available as a free podcast on iTunes. This is great news for Banks fans, and for scifi in general. Many thanks to Orbit Books for releasing this as a podcast the same day as the hardcover publication. Now that’s a company which understands Web 2.0.

Work published in 2008 from Israel claims detection of element #122. If true the implications are stunning. The only possible method of generating element 122 is by artificial nucleosynthesis, a technical feat beyond the capability of modern day humans.
