Scientists have analyzed noise in the GEO600 gravitational wave detection system and concluded it is holographic in nature.

This leads them to propose that this entire universe is a holographic projection.

That is one serious projector.  The computational power required to process the signals and send them to the projector probably outpaces an entire galaxy of Matrioshka brains.

Heim theory predicts that the 3 dimensional mass we detect is a projection of the distortions of a metronic lattice where higher dimensions contain the blueprints and materials for objects in 3 dimensions. His metron is analogous to the Planck length except is based upon a smallest area rather than length. So maybe this hypothesis merits consideration.

The problem with this theory, is that it’s positing the existance of a ‘meta universe’ in order to explain the universe we see.

Although, it might not be. What they might mean is that the universe functions *like* a holographic projection, in that reality obeys some of the same rules. This wouldn’t fall foul of occams razor. However, if the claim really is that there is a universe outside the one we have, and that this universe is being projected by equipment within another universe… well, that might be true, but…

Does this theory make any testable predictions at all? Is there any way to prove it wrong, even in theory? I suspect not, and this is the sign of a dodgy theory. For instance, the theory that there are aliens in the galaxy can, at least in theory, be disproved. It would take a long time, but you could go from world to world, checking. It’s theoretically disprovable.
Theories that the universe is a projection/computer simulation/dream cannot be disproved in any way, as any action one takes is just part of the simulartion/dream. The theory would be consistent with *any* findings, it cannot be disproved. Theories that can never be disproved are very suspect.
