Nice veiled reference to the washing. I am certainly not arguing about the conditions of early society.

I see, you were referring to feet as hurt and disgusting. That makes perfect sense, I don’t know why it confused me the first time around.

Perhaps if you said “They were disgusting and I was actually forced to avoid the piles of manure which littered the path.” or “These people were disgusting” it would be less ambiguous.

I only hope to provide constructive criticism, and I appreciate your reply.

Either the sandals or the feet, doesn’t matter. Both were awful. I’m hinting at the scene where Jesus washed the disciples feet. Most people don’t realize what a disgusting job that was. There were no sidewalks, paved roads, sewers, or socks ! Only slaves washed the dung and dirt off of people’s feet.

The last sentence in the second paragraph is confusing. Which ‘they’ are you referring to?

The Galilee story will be multi-part, but also will be part of an overall set of time travel stories about visitors to a variety of historical events.

I’ve decided to post all my short stories to my blog, there’s almost no money to be made off of short stories. Unless of course there are movie rights !
